"lovely nurses but shame about the doctor"

About: Stafford Hospital

I bought my mother to see a respiritory consultant yesterday (10/6/14) following a referral from her GP. I was really impressed that we did not have to wait and the staff who checked her weight BP etc were lovely and very helpful. Unfortunately the consultant let the whole service down, he was abrupt and appeared to have little interest in my mother. His 1st question being "what can i do for you today?". Surely he had the GP letter in front of him. He was very impatient when my mother did not know exact dates etc...again surely he had that information from the GP. He sent us for some investigations and then asked us to return to see him, we then waited over an hour for these investigations and returned to see him telling the nurses we were back in the dept. Again a fairly long wait....he then called in another patient and seemed confused that we were waiting.....in all we wre in the hospital for over 2 hours. I found this man to be impatient and distracted and did not appear to consider my mother as an individual. Its so dissapointing that this doctor spoiled my mothers experience of the hospital as the nursing staff were lovely

Please contact the PALS team on freephone 08000 40 70 60 who will do all they can to investigate this for you and bring to the attention of the department and the Consultant to ensure this does not happen in the future
