"The majority of the nursing staff ..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The majority of the nursing staff on F Ward were excellent.

What could be improved

After my operation, I asked to use the toilet. The nurse was annoyed that I had disturbed her and she left me on the commode for over an hour! I was so humiliated as I have significant mobility problems and could not have got off of the commode on my own (the nursing staff were made fully aware of my mobility problems when I arrived at the hospital).

Also I was in the hospital for 5 nights and not once was the room I was in (with 3 others) cleaned. A towel covered with blood was left on the floor for 3 days until discovered by a very annoyed senior nurse. The ward was extremely dirty and I understand that several other complaints were received whilst I stayed at the hospital - all regarding the level of cleanliness.
