My mother was recently admitted to A & E. I do not want to comment on her treatment but I witnessed a 96 year old who had been left on her own try to walk out of the ward with her walking frame and bags. She wet all over the floor and I had to calla nurse to stop her. He wiped the floor with a towel and changed the lady. When my mother was leaving with us this old lady made a beeline for the door and would have been out in the corridor if my sister had not stopped her and taken her back to a member of staff. I do not blame the staff they do an amazing job under the most difficult circumstances and not enough cover. This hospital is woefully inadequate and it is about time you put more staff on the wards and got rid of the highly paid executives who have no idea what is going from their ivory towers! They can fill in as many forms as they like and set targets and objectives but if the staff are not in place they have no chance of turning this hospital around.
