"care i recieved in labour suite"

About: Queen's Medical Centre

On January 13 my waters broke at 4am I rang the labour suite almost immediately and was asked to go in to make sure it was definitely my waters that had gone, on my arrival the nurse was fantastic she was patient through my contractions and was very friendly and attentive and after feeling around my tummy told my my baby had turned back to back, she assured me that should I need pain relief at anytime to ring up and come in and she let me go home where I would be more comfortable. After a few hours the pain became unbearable but my contractions were very up and down so I rang up for advice and they asked me to come in to be checked over as I was only 1cm dilated they sent me back home with 1 codiene tablet which in all fairness did nothing for the pain and only made me tireder. My partner rang back 5 times when I was asking for pain relief and they refused to take me in but said if I did I would be sent home again as my contractions were still up and down and weren't close enough together to be opening my cervix. finally at 11pm the same day I was taken in and given pain relief and from then on the midwives were brilliant, they were so friendly and kind to me I could not fault them at all, my only problem during my time at qmc was that a female surgeon came in as I pushing and although my sons head was practically out she came in looked at me and cut me open, which I seem to remember the senior midwife was not pleased about as she said I didnt need to be cut as I was doing fantastic on my own, she cut an artery and I lost 500ml of blood it took the midwives an hour and a half to stitch me back up as she did such a poor job of cutting my perinium they couldn't get it to look normal, I was very unhappy about the surgeons particular treatment I only wish I wasnt so gone with the fairies that I could remember her name. Dispite all of this I gave birth to a healthy little boy at 3.29pm on January the 14th 2014 the midwives were excellent I only wish my plea for help was acknowledged sooner and that the surgeon had left the scissors well alone as it took me weeks to recover and it was not needed. Other than that a massive thank you to all the amazing midwives that took part in delivering my son I am eternally grateful for the respect patience and kindness you showed me and my partner and for delivering my beautiful baby boy safely into my arms! You all are amazing people! And Thank you again.
