"No dignity"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I am new to the north east and first visit to wansbeck, I was upset at my treatment with the so called consultant who never wore name badge or introduced himself, no one else was called into see him, I watched him in his room for nearly 2 hours whilst I was waiting to be seen unaware it was him I was seeing. Everyone else went to other doctors, was he a doctor? He was rude, made me take my clothes off to my underwear without a nurse present. Examined me when I tild him it was too painful, commented on my weight unpleasently and asked about my finances. Never been so upset.

Dear Madam, Firstly, can I say how sorry I am to learn how upset you are following your visit to Wansbeck Hospital. Thank you for taking the time to share this important feedback with us. The situation you describe is something that we would never want or expect any of our patients to experience. Respect and dignity should always be at the heart of all the care we provide. I am so sorry that this was not the case for you. I am very keen to receive more details so that we can learn and act immediately to avoid this happening to anyone else. The anonymous nature of your post unfortunately makes it difficult for me to do this in the way I would like to. If you would be happy to, please contact me privately at Annie.laverty@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk Best Wishes Annie
