"Excellent care and service"

About: Watford General Hospital

I got taken into hospital suffering from acute abdominal pain. I was given pain relief almost immediately and seen by a doctor quite soon. I got taken to a surgical assessment area where I spent the night where I was seen by surgical staff The next day I was taken to Ridge ward and then into the theatre. I had a gangrenous appendix which had fused itself to my bowel. Apparently it was pretty nasty and needed nearly four hours of surgery. Throughout my time at Watford General, other than one blip in the Recovery room, I received excellent care and attention. This includes, but is not limited to, the nurse in A&E, the doctor I saw in A&E, who looked after me my first night, the person who looked after me all the first day, the lady surgeon who was taking no nonsense from me when I said I was better after antibiotics all day and did I need surgery, the consultant, who I saw both before surgery and twice afterwards (is this normal, it was very informative), my anaesthetist who kept me nice and calm, the person who stayed with me before I went under, the lovely nurse who pushed me back to Ridge on her own!, the team who looked after for me for two nights, the two lovely nurses who looked after me day one post op and day two post op, the day team who kept me clean and well watered, and the team who came round with the consultant and had me discharged in no time at all I know I've missed some people out, and apologies for not remembering some key names. The only slight blip was in recovery, when the nurse just chatted with her friend, didn't pay attention to the intense pain I was in and didn't really make sure I was ok. But that was the only slight downer on an otherwise very scary but very well handled stay at the hospital. Thank you so much And to answer the key question, yes, I was treated like a human being at every stage and the standard of care was excellent. Thank you
