"Rescued casualty from boat by helicopter with..."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

The medical staff at Treliske are always of the highest professional standard, and I applaud that. Sad, however, is it nowadays that the requirements of statistics and record keeping/targets occupies far too much attention and detracts from the time that could be spent caring more closely to the needs of your patients. My wife trained in Midwifery at Treliske in the 1960s and three of my children were born there. She retired recently from the position of SNO at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, and so I know a lot of insights into problems within the NHS. I believe that care standards have been much eroded by increased pressure of record keeping and form-filling. I'm also horrified by the prevalence of more and more trolleys cluttering the corridors, and the wastage culture of "throw-away" rather than recycle. No wonder there is no money left for improving patient care! Please accept these comments as the outpourings of the proverbial GOM, and thank all the wonderful professional staff in A&E.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We are working hard to reduce unnecessary paperwork and through our productive ward programme are having real success in freeing up more time for direct patient care.
