"A & E Senior staff rude"

About: Grantham & District Hospital

My mother was treated in A & E and eventually went on to EAU. All the frontline staff were amazing in their care at a difficult. When I rang to speak to anyone more senior, I was initially past onto a pleasant doctor. During this brief conversation I expressed my concern at how long my vulnerable mother had been waiting. The phone went quiet and a 'senior' person spoke to me in a rude unhelpful way. I was shocked and upset by his brusqueness and mannerI apologised for 'wasting' his colleagues time. All he wihed to rant on about was how busy he/A & E were. I am completely dissatisfied with his approach and aggressive behaviour. When I am able to I will be taking this matter further.

Dear Anon

I am so sorry that you were spoken to in an aggressive manner by a Grantham Hospital member of staff, which must have been very disappointing, especially after your kind comments about the frontline nurses and doctors. This incident will be investigated. I am happy to discuss your concerns and experience and apologise personally, if you would like to contact me via our PALS team on 01476 464861 or 01205 446243. You can also contact the PALS service via the following email address PALS@ulh.nhs.uk or Text: 07815 707746

Sincerely

Lynda Stockwell, Head of Nursing.
