"Infant Ultrasound Scans"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was identified as possibly having a clicky hip at birth and the consultant wanted an ultrasound scan to be carried out ASAP within 2 weeks of birth. This process was somewhat flawed with an appointment taking a long time to come through and my midwife had to get the receptionists on Nettleham Ward to chase up the appointment.

However once we attended the appointment I cannot fault the staff, the 2 ladies who carried out the scan were great and really took the time to explain the scan to me and why a follow up scan was being recommended to the consultant.

Our follow up scan at around 9 weeks was the first one with the consultants new clinic to have the scan and then see him straight after. This system seemed to work really well.

Other people there appeared to have a bit of confusion as to where to go first so maybe some explanation on the appointment letter would help but I can't praise the team enough for the service we received and the manner in which everything is thoroughly explained.

Dear DH1985

On behalf of the UItrasound team, thank you for your comments. The staff in ultrasound are pleased that we were able to provide a high standard care both to you and your baby. We have recently changed the way this service runs in the hope that things run more smoothly in the long run between the Consultant and the other professionals involved. There have been some early teething problems, but we are hopefully in the process of ironing them out.

Kind Regards
