"Being told one thing then being told another"

About: North Middlesex Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I went to a and e to get my toe checked out, was sent for a X-ray then was told I had a bad break in my toe, nurse showed me on my X-ray where the break was, got it strapped up and was told to go home and rest.

Couple days later my pain got worse so I went back to a and e to see if I could get stronger tablets, I was called in to see another nurse, put my X-ray up and said the radiologist say no break in toe, nurse said to me well I can see a break, then I was told we can't do anything with a broken toe anyway, so just put it down to a sprain.

So I was told by two nurses iv got a break, radiologist say no break, who do I believe?

Came out north mid upset feeling like they don't care it's only a toe.

So sorry to hear that you had mixed messages during your visit. A patient always has the right to question what they are being told. I am the head of radiology and would be glad to provide a correct report to you, please email me neil.sorby@nhs.net to discuss this further

I am sorry to hear that you have been given conflicting clinical information and recommendations relating to the injury to your toe. This obviously needs clarifying definitively. As service manager of the department, I suggest that you come back to A&E and speak to a doctor. Please email me if you would like to discuss at christopherdinsdale@nhs.net. Many thanks
