"Shingles Vaccination"

About: West Yorkshire

(as the patient),

Station Road Surgery advertises Shingles Vaccination for patients aged 70. I attended an appointment to have the vaccination only to be told than I did not qualify because I was outside the age range, I turned 70 earlier in the year. I wasted a morning attending for the appointment, and this wasted a valuable appointment slot which could have gone to some one in need. The advertisement in the surgery is totally misleading, I am 70 but still do not qualify for the vaccination even though I am vulnerable because I have had Shingles twice, a very unpleasant experience. I was told by the nurse that only people born between 1st September 1942 and 1st September 1943 were eligible which makes them aged between 71 and 72. The wording on the notice is inaccurate and should be corrected. Also the surgery could have rung me and cancelled the appointment and saved us both time and valuable NHS resourses
