Earlier in the year I attended an appointment with my Consultant at Gartnavel Hospital, Glasgow. The next stage was that my Consultant arranged for me to have a CT Scan, and this request was repeated a few days later. About two weeks later, I received a call asking me if I could travel to any hospital in Glasgow - my answer was yes. Some weeks went by with no word about the Scan. I subsequently contacted my Consultant's office, only to be told that I had rejected the offer of the CT Scan.
Things then went from bad to worse - some weeks after initial referral I had my CT Scan on the morning at the Golden Jubilee Hospital, Clyde, and later that day (approx 6 and a half hours later) I receive a call from my Consultant's office, asking if I could attend Gartnavel Hospital that night for surgery on the Wednesday (without any"Pre- assessment").
Unfortunately I could not attend due to a number of Domestic problems. During this call I had the chance to talk to my Consultant, and he advised me that no Pre-assessment was needed and that the original date for my surgery will still be OK.
However, I receive a letter for a "Pre-assessment appointment on a date following the date for the surgery.
This is ludicrous, bearing in mind that there was no mention that "Pre-assessment""`was necessary for the surgery proposed for the earlier op, but it appears it is now needed - can somebody please make up their mind?
I get the feeling that the Administration Staff fail to appreciate that people (patients) do have lives, and also are lacking in compassion and understanding.
