I really cannot praise the Medical Emergency Assessment Unit highly enough. I attended today with my husband who was suffering severe dizziness and nausea and is very hospital phobic!. The whole experience was a pure joy if a visit to hospital can ever be described as such!. The welcome by the ward clerk was very warm and friendly and my husband was shown straight away to a bed in a bay which was scrupulously clean. A nurse came within 2 minutes and carried out an ECG and took blood samples etc - she was a delight and a credit to the nursing profession-polite,kind,chatty and very caring- she really put my husband at ease. It was only a short while before the Dr arrived -she carried out a thorough examination and answered any questions we had-we felt she was totally in control and came across as very knowledgeable with a super bedside manner. The Dr told us her consultant would need to see my husband to confirm her diagnosis but we may have to wait a while. We were seen by the charming consultant within half an hour and he confirmed the original diagnosis. While waiting for medication to take home we were offered tea and my husband had some soup. This is how the NHS should be. I work within the NHS at another hospital but would certainly recommend Grantham to anyone I know. Well Done and Thank you!.
"Fantastic!"
