Lovely attitude and help by the staff throughout my visit. Arrived with extremely deep cut to my thumb at the base and across the knuckle / Joint after argument with a hand saw. First thought was to stitch, but after discussion, strips and bandage applied to keep everything together and in one position to allow to heal. Was consulted throughout the process, including my thoughts on stitches. Great care was taken to make sure the wound was clear of any debris and then gently cleaned to make sure no more damage and infection occurred (had been cutting wood, so was definite chance of infection). Cut was obviously more a 'RIP' , the normal with a rough saw, rather than a cut in the case of a knife. Therefore small bits of skin that hung were gently cut away. Bandaging was done carefully to allow air in, but to keep thumb fairly still for at least 3 days allowing the start of the healing process. Was given instruction on keeping it dry and free from dirt, given extra bandages to redress and told to visit GP if need be. A week later after 2 visits to my own GP, the strips and bandaging came off. Thankyou to the great job done in the hospital that day.
