"Recent Stay"

About: Leighton Hospital

Firstly, for myself I have always been treated very well at the Urology Department. Recently my wife was taken in by paramedics for a serious condition. She was in hospital a week. Suffering from a fractured back and terminal cancer she needed special care. This was over the stay very hit and miss. Records were lost then found. Notice of certain allergies were not noted. Soft food was always necessary and the chefs were only informed of this near the end of her stay. Food was taken in to her by her family. A doctor said she could leave yet the ward staff said she was to stay. Staff care was good at times and dismal in others. Overall a very trying time for a very ill patient and the care and attention could have been far better. Also, the administration was very poor.

Thank you for your recent NHS posting. I appreciate that you have taken the time to post your comments following your wife’s recent stay. I am disappointed to hear that your wife did not receive the care that she needed and that this was a very trying time for you both. Please accept my apologies for any distress that was caused by the lack of care or poor administration that you encountered. I would like to look further into your concerns and provide you with a more detailed response. However, you do not state which ward your wife was on and this information would be helpful to us. If you would like to contact our Customer Care Team on 01270 612410 with further details I would be more than happy to investigate your concerns further.
