My mother broke her ankle while on holiday in Fuerteventura recently. She was taken directly to A&E at Wythenshawe from the airport. From the time she arrived until her discharge a week later, she was treated with absolute dignity and respect throughout. Her treatment was explained fully and all staff (from the domestic staff through to the consultants) were unfailingly courteous to my mother and ourselves. My mother was treated initially on Ward F9 and was then moved to Ward A3 and, in both locations, her treatment was of the highest standard both during the day and at night. In these times, when we hear many horror stories about poor standard of treatment (especially of older patients) it was wonderful to experience such tremendous service. Please make sure that this feedback reaches not only the staff on the 2 wards, but also the Director of Nursing and even the Chief Executive, as I feel it is important that good news reaches people at the highest level of the organisation, so that they can also recognise (and maybe even reward!) their staff at the "coal face".
