"appointment keeps getting cancelled"

My wife had a scan last august and was due to meet with a consultant to decide if another operation was needed. But we have now had 2 appointments cancelled and the new date will be 1 year... to yet still might get pushed back again !!! well my wife is in a fair bit of pain and also wants to change jobs but cant do this until we find out if she needs another opp and may have to be laid up for a few weeks. We are so in limbo waiting for a very quick consultation. I have been told that this is because the consultant is away lots ... well how about arrange some cover for these periods... quite simple i think. We are now waiting for the next cancellation letter to arrive unless a miracle happens. Very very poor.
