"An NHS service to be genuinely proud of."

About: The Whittington Hospital

I thought I had submitted a review a long while back (so impressed was I by my experience) but it appears not - and for that I apologise. I was referred by my GP in October 2013, given an appointment with my consultant a short while later and booked in for surgery in November. Firstly, the consultation was thorough, informed and comprehensive - I was given straight forward options and not steered in any way but given clear and direct answers to any questions I had. The pre-op process was clearly explained and I also attended their accelerated recovery programme at which some 5 professionals, including physiotherapy, nutrition and pain relief were helpful in giving full information and answering any questions in a session which lasted over 2 hours and at which my other half was also welcome (and brave enough to stay !) So far, I was really impressed. Upon admission, I went on to experience the same high level of service. I was in for 5 days in total and have to say that the service I experienced was top class. Staff were caring, considerate and professional throughout. I left a thank-you letter on the ward for all who looked after me. This is what the NHS should be - what a great shame that through funding difficulties/administrative hiccups it is not always this way. I have spent a lot of time with family members in other hospitals (who shall remain nameless, but are north London, so not too far away) and wish that their care had been here at the Whittington. I hope that I do not have to frequent hospital too much in the future, but I can thoroughly recommend the Whittington - and all who work there. Heartfelt thanks to all, from the Consultants through to the ladies and gentlemen who feed us and clean up after us. You're a wonderful bunch of people and I am glad to see where at least some of my monthly tax/NI contributions are going.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. This has been shared with our staff and communications department. We welcome feedback as this provides us an opportunity to improve our services but it is also a great way of reinforcing good practice and ensuring staff know when they are doing a good job. Again, thank you very much for taking the time to tell us what you think.
