About: Broomfield Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

If I think of something I'll let you know.

What could be improved

My mum had an appointment with a specialist last week (re results of CT Scan for liver). The doctor had no notes, had no idea what the scan said. Luckily the CT scan was a private one that my mum had paid for so she had a copy in her bag that was used! Surely that can't be right. Her next appointment is after another type of scan. What assurances are there that the notes will be available at that time? A patient could die waiting for notes to appear in between appointments that are months apart.

Anything else?

My dad died in a different part of Broomfield Hospital in 2007. I hardly saw a doctor during the whole time I was in the building, I don't know where they all go? We didn't even see a doctor after he died. I was with dad the day before he died for nearly twelve hours, there was no doctor on the ward, to my knowledge, during all that time. I had no idea that he wouldn't be coming home again. I new he had cancer but he still looked pretty well when I left him.

The impression I'm building up of this hospital is very negative.
