My father needed day surgery and was told to arrive at 7am. We arrived to a dark entrance with a security guard who spoke to no one into a small waiting room crammed full of elderly patients and relatives with only a few chairs. We waited... And waited... Then herded like cattle to line up in a very long line to be given info on wards and time of surgery. Two people gave different info. Then patients moved into a tiny room where we had to leave them. I find this extremely difficult to understand. My elderly mum would have rather stayed with her husband of 50 years but unfortunately I had to drive her home, a good hours drive and leave her to worry all day long. Eventually at 3pm, after we phoned the hospital. We were told that the hospital was 'in crisis' and there wasn't enough beds. They couldn't tell us which ward my dad would end up on and both had different visiting times. This hospital runs apaulingly and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.
