"A wonderful GP..."

I recently visited my local GP practice - Collingham Surgery with an appointment with Dr Grewal. It was the best visit and GP experience I have ever experienced.

Why was this the best GP experience? Because for once, it felt as though I actively had a role in my own diagnosis and treatment. I'm a firm believer that we're all experts and have a better insight into our own mind and body than indeed medical professionals, with all due respect, despite their years of training and theory.

Dr Grewal's active listening and non-verbal body language were immediate signs that he was engaged and interested in what I had to say and following my description and possible explanation for my presentation and symptoms, was very open and accepting of my own theories and suggestions on how the said issue might be resolved. He never superseded nor declined my suggestions, but listened openly and actively. His attentive and accepting nature served to naturally validate his professional input and opinion and I was happy to try a mutually agreed treatment option.
