"rude doctor"

About: Sandwell General Hospital

My son waited 6 months to see a doctor about his behaviour. we have had no sleep for the past 2 years tryed everything. he gets very angry & upset wont mix with other children, crys when im vacuuming & any music on, gets very anxious if his routines changed, thats only to name a few problems. im 100% sure my baby has autism, dont need any doctor to tell me, but it would of been nice to get some support. I felt the doctor I saw wasnt interested in my son or what we were going through, its been hell & im so angry that doctors are making any excuse not to diagnose children. it just made me feel that what people were telling me was right, sandwell have the worst funding in england. he made us feel like bad parents. I know its a complex condition & I wouldnt want a diagnosis until hes been seen a few times, but I pleaded with this doctor to help us with the sleep & told him that the no sleep was really hard to deal with & he turned around to me & told me to go & see my gp. I was fuming at this reply & so was my husband. im not depressed, im sleep deprivated. the only thing he could of help us with thst day & he wouldn't. I found him to be rude. I have waited 6 months for this appointment & he turned around tapping his watch & said I have 2 patients waiting. my husband walked out in disgust because we were only there a short time, I couldn't tell the doctor everything but it wouldn't of mattered anyway because everything i was trying to tell him what hes like, he was makeing excuses up. its a joke he thinks just because my son talked to him & made some contact that hes fine. im fuming he needs to come to my house or go shopping to c what we go through everyday when we cant take him to partys, because of the noise & when hes screaming in pain with his head & hitting himself its heartbreaking. all I want is the best treatment for my little boy. I want him to get the help but because of how many kids in sandwell have this problem, kids are being left & its not right. 6 months appointments are ridiculous. im going to make sure somethings done about this. I have already been to see a councillor & I will make sure my boy gets help for his needs instead of looking for things an autistic child can do, start looking at the things they cant,. just because my son can comunicate dont mean hes ok, he has lots of difficultys. doctors shouldn't judge. I have other children who are doing very well & have been bought up respectful & are all in bed by 8. just because my sons up all night & has problems doesn't mean im a bad mother & thats how the doctor made me feel, its not right. I no longer want to see this doctor as I find him rude & not interested in what we tell him. its a shame because I have been on lyndon ground with a lot of the pediatric doctors & find them very nice & hard working. its a shame that one doctor being like that spoils the reputation for the ones who are polite & listen to the parents. I dont want my son to have autism but he has & we will deal with it doctors help or no doctors help

I am very sorry to read your comments. There is no excuse for rudeness from any of our staff members. We would like to investigate this further, so if you could send the details of this incident to swb-tr.pals@nhs.net. Toby Lewis, Chief Executive
