"Long delay for appointments"

About: Lancashire

(as a relative),

My mother (who is in her 80s) got an appointment after 3 weeks of waiting because she was and still is having very bad dizzy spells. She has very high blood pressure, and is on meds for it, and was given some new medication and to go back for follow up appointment in 2 weeks.

When I phoned Newton Drive health centre for an appointment I was told that it would be the end of June before she could be seen. I explained that she needed to go back, as her medication would have run out and she was still having bad dizzy spells. I was told that was earliest appointment. I cannot believe that an elderly patient with high blood pressure (who is taking medication for fits as well and new medication) has to wait for 5 weeks to see a doctor! I was told that if it was urgent that I could phone at 8.30 in the morning to see if they could see my mother 2 days later. An emergency appointment is not what was being asked for!
