"Great care from everyone but a poor overall experience"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Paediatrics

(as the patient),

My 9 year old daughter has neurofibromatosis and suddenly started having episodes where her vision went very blurred. We saw the GP and were immediately sent to the child assessment unit at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary. We had to wait a very long time to be seen, over 2 hours, but staff were friendly and welcoming.

We guessed we had to wait for a consultant to be free, but felt that we could have been better informed about what was causing the delay. In the end we did see someone, and the tests were detailed.

The consultant needed to seek extra advice, so another hour passed by. She came back to us and said she was still trying, another hour passed. She finally said she would ring us the next day, which she did, but at 21.30 at night. We then waited another two weeks for an eye appointment which found nothing wrong.

Each individual was lovely, but the process is awful. We feel our daughter is starting to have some sort of epilepsy. (Her dad is epileptic) but this avenue was not explored at all.

We can cope with this as we know what to do, but overall feel let down.
