"Very little, car parks are badly ..."

About: North Manchester General Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

Very little, car parks are badly organised and the pay and display machines never work and consume money without issuing tickets. Staff are often rude and very unhelpful (aside from the odd few nurses on the ward) and there is very little communication between patient's family and doctors.

What could be improved

Car parks and ease of access to the hospital. Staff attitudes especially on one of the trauma wards. I found the ward manager to be especially pompous and full of his own self importance and often would conceal important imformation and refuse access to the ward even when visitors had been granted flexible visiting times. When the patient had been transferred to original hospital, noone was informed and it was only through speaking to the patient that the change was discovered. Care of patients who are unable to walk and need a reasonable amount of attention was also originally ignored by certain staff members.

Anything else?

I would like to thank the few nurses who did offer a high level of care but I feel that although patient care is the most important issue, changing attitudes to visiting family members is also needed.
