"The Nurses where commitied to ..."

About: Burnley General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The Nurses where commitied to my care and despite the problems where concerned with my care

But its obvious the management is in need of re assesment, and repairs to faulty equipment needs to be managed better.

What could be improved

The fact the a large number of paitients, mixture of clinics hadto be there at 7.30am, seemed a chaotic mess.I arrived at the hospital no one was around anyone could have walked in and done anything.

I was on a general so no food ot drink from the previous evening at 7.20, i did not go to surgery until 3/ 3.30pm then i was out fo the hospital by 5pm.

I had been waiting so long. I overheard the nursing staff whispering, about the amount of people sent in, and how they needed to have a co ordinator, and a lot of equipment was not working. while i was having my blood pressure checked as it was getting higher, one of the machines had a piece of paper stuck to it, saying oxygen probe not working and dated 10th November 08!!! this was the 22nd!

On the way to theatre one lift we tried the door kept opening and closing, so we tried another, I overheard, when we got to the bottom a couple of people say, "its been like that for a while"

Anything else?

I had a arthroscopy when i got home i was bleeding at quite a rate, to the point my shie filled up with blood, to the point it took 10mins to stem the flow, so we called out of hours number for the district nurse, when she came and took of the dressings the incisions had not been stitched, as i had to walk out of the hospital not long after coming round after the general, this put strain on the seri strips holding the incioins together, well they didnt did they

I will not be going back to the follow up clinic, nor will i ever go back toburnley again, for a surgeon not to stitch or clip incsions like this is ridiclous, i have had one of these ops before, i was stictched and my recovery was quicker then i am going through at present.

The district nurse who we called out the night of the op, couldnt believe how they had "stuck them up" and again when i went to my own surgery, today monday 24th, as the incisions had been bleeding again on the sunday, so a good job seristrip did!, the nurse there was amazed so its not just me is it!

I will be suprised if this is posted as it is a true an accurate account of a mistake my name is genuine, and i rather annoyed that this has happened. i await with interest as to if this is posted.
