The Charing Cross cardiac rehabilitation department gave me my best-ever experience of NHS service: hugely practical approach to helping me derive the best possible and lasting benefit from the cardiac treatment I had already received: providing a whole raft of practical advice and information, managing medication, improving eating habits, promoting exercise and extracting better service from my GP than I have managed in 30 years. Staff were friendly, very caring and highly professional. The NHS should seriously consider rolling out this model to cover patients with other conditions where patient lifestyle changes would consolidate and build on the value of the initial medical treatment given. .
