Nurse decided to dress wound with seaweed dressing (alginate), despite it bleeding profusely. Two days later when I had dressing changed I learnt that this was the wrong dressing to use as the dressing had adhered to the wound. Very painful removal. NICE site advises about dressings and " Alginate dressings ... caution is needed because blood clots can cause the dressing to adhere to the wound surface. Alginate dressings should not be used if bleeding is heavy". Hopefully lesson learnt.
