"A and E staff rude"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Visited A and E for the first time ( it needs a good clean and some fresh paint it was like stepping back in time). The triage nurse was lovely, friendly but very professional but the man we saw for treatment ( don't know if he was a doctor, he didn't introduce himself which I thought was very rude in itself) was severely lacking in any sort of bedside manner - hope he was the exception but I really don't want to visit eastbourne dgh again.

Thank you for your positive comments about the triage nurse in the A&E department at Eastbourne DGH, we shall make sure your observations are passed onto the nursing staff. It's encouraging for staff to receive positive feedback. Recent surveys have shown that a high percentage of patients are "extremely likely" or "Likely" to recommend our A&E department to family and friends if they needed similar care or treatment. We're therefore concerned to read your comments relating to the attitude of a male member of staff and the state of cleanliness and decor. We would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving people’s experience. We have therefore forwarded your posting to the Hotel Services Manager, General Manager and Lead Consultant for A&E to look into in more detail. An additional and immediate inspection of the cleanliness and decor will take place as a result of your feedback. We would like the opportunity to speak to you and apologise in person for the fact that your experience was poor. If you would like to do this, please make contact with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). PALS can be contacted by phone 01323 435886, by email PALSE@esht.nhs.uk , or in person by dropping in between 9am – 4pm (Mon-Fri) to the PALS office located in the main entrance opposite the WRVS Coffee Shop. Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback and hope that you feel able to contact us.
