"A visit after a knee injury - great staff"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

I visited the a and e department after injuring my knee. My friends had warned me about the potential long wait and so I took some stuff to do while I waited. I got seen straight away by the steaming nurse and then got sent through to register with urgent care section. Bearing in mind my knee injury was not life threatening I thought I'd have to wait 2-3hrs even before I saw someone. Luckily for me there was a 2 tier system for illnesses and injuries. The injuries wait was about 30minutes - sadly for others, the illness wait was about 2-3hrs. I was seen by a very helpful nurse practitioner I then went for a diagnostic xray - for which there was no queue. I then was seen again after my xray. I was in and out of the hospital with a diagnosis in just over 2 hrs. Staff were wonderful. Sadly the waiting room was rather full and very hot.

Thank you for your comments. The Urgent Care Centre is not managed by Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust but we work closely together because as you experienced the centre is sited adjacent to our Emergency Department. I will ensure that your comments positive and constructive about environment are passed on.
