This week I spent a morning in Tavistock Ward recovering from having steroid injections in both feet. To my delight due to a cancellation my appointment came through in a matter of weeks . From the moment I entered the hospital I received such excellent service from the first point of contact to the moment of discharge. All the theatre staff were so caring and considerate to my needs and very sympathetic to my obvious apprehension. In the past I have had a poor experience of anaesthetics so was terrified of repeating this scenario .However the magnificent Anaesthetist has restored my faith and she will never be aware of how much she has helped me get past this issue - utterly brilliant and I will always remember her for this. My surgeon was again extremely good at putting me at ease and thanks to his skill has one again done a wonderful job of getting me mobile again . The Theatre Nurse was so calm and reassuring I soon relaxed and knew I was in good safe hands . I was kept informed and never felt as though I'd been forgotten , staff often apologised for a delay but I never felt there had been any - very thoughtful though. In the theatre I really did feel I was their No1 priority. On my return from surgery the staff of Tavistock were so friendly and professional taking great care of all my needs during my recovery thank you all so much . The hospital was clean , bright ,secure and warm and indeed so vigilant was our cleaner we got to know her quite well as she always had a happy , friendly smile to encourage us on. Thank you all for a great experience - its good to know that Bedford Hospital is staffed by such wonderful people.
