"Not taken seriously"

I'm 24 years old and have suffered with motor / vocal tics and restless leg syndrome since I was a child. My parents never took me to see a specialist because they seemed to think it was 'habitual' or that I was 'putting it on' - frustrating as that is, they're not doctors and I can't blame them for not knowing about neurological conditions and so on. I also suffer with pretty severe concentration issues - I can sit down to do a piece of work and take an hour to write the first sentence - which is the main reason I was hoping to finally get a diagnosis (to start exploring treatments). Having thoroughly researched my symptoms, I have come to the conclusion that I either have Tourrettes/ADD, Aspergers or am impossibly lazy and like to flail around to the point of injury and sleepless nights. Anyway, as someone who suffers from social anxiety and prefers to avoid phone calls / appointments and basically everything of that nature, it's taken me this long to work up the gall to do anything about it. and I was relieved have finally set the ball rolling. Well apparently there's nothing wrong with me. Because I wasn't noticeably floundering like a fish out of water in the 10 minutes we were speaking - despite explaining that like many sufferers of these conditions, I can suppress the tics to a degree when in public. And because I have a degree I apparently cannot suffer from lack of concentration. A 3-year degree that took 5 excruciating years to achieve and maybe half the skills I need to get a related job. Anyway it's probably as much my fault for not persisting or explaining the situation well enough but my anxieties set in and I just wanted to get out of there. Either way though I felt I wasn't at all taken seriously because of my age and that I was being dismissed basically.
