I write to commend and thank the staff, at Colchester Hospital University NHS Trust, most sincerely for the excellent care given to my mother, who was admitted to Mersea Ward on 20th April and died subsequently on 11th May. I cannot praise the care she received more highly. Thoughtful, empathetic and informative staff, cared diligently for her throughout her final days. They were a great support to my sister and myself and did everything they could to ensure that my mother was comfortable. A combination of circumstances and events leading my mothers admission to hospital, presented challenges which the staff on Mersea Ward managed absolutely superbly to ensure that her end of life was as dignified, comfortable and pain free. I am indebted to the staff for their professionalism, medical care and empathetic pastoral care and shall be ever grateful that my mother’s end of life was managed so beautifully. The care she received was exceptional.
