"Shocking state of communication and consistency"

My beautiful Mum was diagnosed with Cancer in September 2013. She was not the sort of person to scream and shout which seemed to give licence to virtually no communication. The inconsistency between the consultants was so bad that we are sure that this led to Mum almost giving in. Despite the fact that she had cancer and was known in the William Budd ward, each time she had problems and was in terrible pain and/or distress she was made to go to A&e where she had to wait for hours -even when the cancer was around her spine and the pain was agonising. The medical assessment ward was even worse as that is where she would go next. My dad was shocked to find that her vital medication had not been given and they often held off giving pain relief. The consultants just stopped her chemotherapy with no explanation as to why and she was left feeling that she had been dumped. Eventually we were told that they could do no more to help her when she was admit with breathing difficulties. She was in great distress as this had always been her fear yet no one had the time it seems to really help her with this so my dad would sit with her all night in tears watching her struggle to breathe. You wouldn't leave an animal in such a state. We have made an official complaint but that has taken over a month to be discussed and we are sure this is so that we may 'forget' the raw pain of her untimely death at the age of 64. We miss her every second of every day and will never forget her. Neither will we forget the lack of care and compassion in this place they call a hospital.
