"Confused"

About: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

I can't fault the nurses and HCA's who were flawless in the care and support they offered. However, I strongly suggest you ask for clear cut information from the ward Doctors as it's rarely forthcoming. Unfortunately I ended up discharging myself in frustration after waiting for a Cardiac MRI which never looked like happening. I was in for just shy of 3 weeks and was referred for this scan within week one. Unable to leave the ward, unable to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time I was exhausted, frustrated and feeling depressed. I was unable to get a date or time frame of when the scan would happen. Finally I asked to be discharged. I was advised to remain at the hospital, but I couldn't face another long day with no news. I was told that the plan of action would remain the same and I'd get an appointment in a "few weeks". Once my discharge was agreed I was allowed to leave within 20 minutes. I was given no advice on aftercare and what I should/shouldn't can/can't do in the meantime, it all happened so quickly and so desperate to get out i forgot to ask. Now home and feeling ok but I'm completely in the dark on so many things, have no idea how long it all will take and unsure on what activities I can undertake as when I was on the ward I was unable to leave as I was "at risk". Communication from the doctors is very poor, I saw my consultant 3 times and his plan of action never changed, however the Doctors I saw in-between nearly always said different and results were never explained. I must stress all other aspects of care are superb and the nursing staff are all heroes, I really couldn't have coped without them.
