"I have spent the last year In constant pain and I can't carry on anymore"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I fell off a boat in early May 2013 and was x rayed in a Bangor hospital thus showed nothing due to swelling. I returned home and saw my doctor who gave me pills for 7 weeks and I had another x ray at George Eliot Hospital which showed nothing. I was in chronic pain and used my partner's health insurance to go private where it was found I had a lisfranc injury including fractured and dislocated metatarsals. I was immediately immobilised with a cast for 12 weeks and then partial weight bearing for 12 weeks. I had to leave private health care and was transferred back to George Eliot in December 2013.

Since then, I have had no treatment and feel I have been fobbed off that I am on the list for surgery. I had my pre op in March and then nothing until last week when I was informed I was being transferred to BMI at Coventry. The surgery was set for tomorrow at 12 until I arrived home today after my last day at work to be informed that the surgeon isn't prepared to do the op so it's cancelled and passed back to George Eliot with no explanation.

I am in constant pain and have been treated appallingly by this hospital. Why was I not sent to a specialist hospital in the first place? warwick have experience of this injury as does the Orthopaedic hospital at Birmingham. Tomorrow I will arrive at George Eliot and will not move until I am given a satisfactory explanation and given a date for surgery at another hospital as I have absolutely no faith in this hospital whatsoever. I have spent the last year in constant pain and I can't carry on anymore.
