"I know they are busy but I wouldn't have gone if I wasn't in pain"

About: Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Went to A&E last week 1st day did blood test etc was there for over 5hrs. Had really bad pain in stomach. Gave me pain killers sent me home said if still bad to come back.

So next morning after being in pain all night return. The reception I got was awful the nurse took blood pressure didn't ask any question crying with the pain was told to wait. Called in told to do water sample did nobody about told to go into no 11 cubicle the bed too high to sit on and 6 chairs stacked up. Nobody came with me stood there in pain and nothing. Then a young male doctor came in and said this is A&E what do you want me to do. Explained told to come back if in pain was told I had test yesterday and should have contacted the emergency doctor he said what did I want him to do I said help me with this pain it really hurts. He then went off got me some pain killers then told me to go. Left hospital feeling very small and crying. The pain was awful. I did say to him are you saying I am wasting your time didn't ans. if I had called the emergency doctor he would have sent me to A&E.

Next day went to doctors was sent directly to hospital admitted in emergency surgical dept. was in hospital for a week and waiting for scan as scanner broke and returning in approx 6 weeks for follow up. Really can't believe how treated in A&E know how busy they are but I wouldn't have gone if hadn't been in so much pain.
