"operation 'bumped' again"

About: Torbay Hospital

I have just received a call from my mother informing me that her knee operation has been postponed for the second time. The first cancellation she was given 2 hours notice, I had booked train and hotel to be near her on both occasions. She is 88 years old and extremely upset and in a great deal of pain. I wonder what my mothers generation thinks of the NHS having worked all of her life. Will the third appointment be cancelled and how old will my mother be when and if she eventually has the operation ..if ever? Gillian
