Good I parts sums-up my experience of the out-patients service, The speed with which my GP referred me and the hospital responded with initial appointments in both neurology and cardiology was exemplary. First appointment with neurology ruled-out TIA or stroke - Great news. Neurology set in motion 24 hour ECG etc. and I was quickly called back, indeed in advance of my cardiology consultant appointment.. Then, such a negative experience with the consultant who seemed unable to assimilate and act on what I was telling him re my collapse that set the whole thing in motion. Lack of empathy was immediate and I feel damaging to my interests. Now, I've had to chase hard to get the repeat appointment which said doctor's letter to my GP says recall in six weeks. The result an appointment that is 12 weeks from the first consultant appointment within the cardiology department. That one person can so compromise a good patient experience at York Hospital over many years (endocrinology, neurology and physiotherapy principally) is damaging to York Hospital's reputation.
