About: Southmead Hospital

After reading the review about the breast care centre i find it unreal that someone has been treated like this. I was referred there by my G.P.. in Sept 2010 i was treated with the best care i could have wished for. My consultant was amazing as was the nurses after my first appointment it was discovered that i had cancer as you can imagine my world fell apart at that moment i was then given a lot of different appointments and finally my first operation was 3 weeks later at Frenchay Hospital.where the care was second to none. My following two operations was at Southmead Hospital where again my care was excellent i now have all my check ups at Southmead where its a very busy unit and yes i may have to wait to be seen but hey i really understand and i never had to wait when i was diagnosed so waiting now will never be a issue foe me..Once again i would like to say a Massive Thank You to the consultant and his fantastic team at the Breast Care Centre with out there care i probably wouldn't be here now.. Sincere Thank you Carole

Dear Carole – thank you for taking the time and trouble to post you positive views about the Breast Cancer service at Southmead Hospital. Like all services within the NHS there are times when demand is high and so waits do inevitably occur, as patients with critical needs are prioritised. I was pleased to read your story and to hear that when it was really important the service came through for you and your treatment and care was positive and successful. It is the Trust’s aim to be in a position where services are delivered in a way that mean patients are always seen in time, and all appointments are available at short notice with minimum or no waiting on attendance, however, the resources available do not always permit this and I would like to thank you for your pragmatic views about the service.
