"A & E - 31 weeks pregnant"

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

When I arrived at a&e the admin staff were friendly and took my information. I had fallen over and NPT birth centre had asked me to go to Bridgend as baby's movements had slowed. Once the doctor had asked me some questions, she said she would check the heartbeat using a doppler. I was taking to a room which was very dirty. Clearly someone had, had their cast removed. The saw was at the side of the bed, there were two dirty bowls and small pieces of the plaster cast left on the bed. I wiped some of this down myself. The bed itself wouldn't lye flat and instead of finding a more suitable bed I was asked to place myself in a rather awkward position. The doctor failed to pick up the heartbeat and on two occasions I had to advise her that the heartbeat she did pick up was mine which was much slower than my daughters. She was happy that I had felt movement and said she would doubt that I needed to be seen by midwifes. I was later kept taken to the maternity ward and placed on a monitor to ensure baby was fine. I had no physical examination of my back or leg which I had experienced discomfort in. Overall was unfortunately very unhappy with my visit.
