The receptionist was kind and understanding as was the nurse who triaged me and helped with my pain. The nurse who cleansed and dressed my wound and put the steri-stitches on was very professional and came across as compassionate and I would like to thank all three of them.

However, I was not impressed with the doctor who interviewed me at all. Who I experienced as terse and not interested in me at all. There was no way I would trust that doctor to examine my wound and recommend that they have increased supervision and support to develop a 'compassionate' approach to patients. Thank you.

I deeply regret that this has happened to you. I unfortunately cannot investigate it any further as I do not know the day or time of your arrival as that could have helped me to find out the doctors who were on duty at that time. We always have a senior doctor on duty to consult cases with. We also emphasise to staff to make patients the centre of our care.

I agree that what you have described is totally unacceptable and has fallen short of our standards. Our receptionists represent the care and compassion delivered by the A/E team, and therefore are consistantly kind and understanding. It is our aim to be professional at all times, and to deliver care of a high standard. This is reflected in the care given by the triage and treatment nurses in this department.
