"Chestnut Ward"

My husband was admitted to the Chestnut Ward last Thursday as he needs anti biotic by drip due to an infection. Although Chestnut Ward is supposedly a holding Ward and patient get transferred out he is still there today. He has asked why is. It being transferred and was told that for his illness there is no ward that can take him. On the first morning he was not allowed to take his medication the way he usually does and was told 3 different doses for her insulin as he is diabetic. Thursday night he did not get a lot of sleep as the nurses were to loud during the night shift, Friday night one of the other patient got worse and again he did not get any sleep. He actually left the ward to sleep in the vistors waiting room to get some sleep. Last night again he was woken at 2.30 am due to a new admission. When he complaint he was not allowed to say what he wanted to say as the nurse in charge did apparently what he wanted to say and she told him that he only wanted to discharge himself. All he wanted is to be transferred to a ward where he can actually get a good night sleep. He is now so depressed by it all that he does not want any visitor and has only very little to eat, which I am sure has not been noticed by any of the staff. Nobody seems to notice or is interested in the fact that is suffering from depression. On Friday I noticed that the bandage he has on his foot to cover a wound has moved and the wound was visible and I mentioned to a nurse. We were told that The nurse for his room is currently not on the ward and that he has to wait until she gets back. Over an hour later she has still not been back and then it was handover time and it took another hour until the bandage was renewed. I also noticed that a patient in another bed pressed his call button and it took half an hour until someone showed up. It was lucky that it was not an emergency. Nobody seems to really care in the " holding " ward as this is not the first bad experience my husband had there.
