My son was admitted from A&E to Ward 17 last week end following an accident and treatment for a broken wrist and dislocated knee. A&E treatment was fine - thank you.. Unfortunately once on the ward it was evident that the hospital had "closed" down for the week-end. His notes were incomplete and did not include any mention of his dislocated knee.which had been splinted by A&E. When he requested assistance to use the bathroom he was told to walk! I would have thought that the splint may have given ward staff a clue?? Needless to say, his notes were not updated and he discharge letter made no mention of his knee so not sure what follow up he can expect. I know he has tried to telephone the ward about this several times - but there is either no answer, or the person he needs to speak to is on a break. Oh dear. There was a mix up with his prescription for intravenous antibiotics and this resulted in him having to stay longer in hospital - I thought there was a bed shortage?
