About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I attended A+E with my mum who had injured her arm, we were seen in triage by a very present nurse who fully explained the plan and offered analgesia! Although the department was very busy the nurse took time to answer any questions we had and put my mum at ease as she was very anxious!

Although we had a few hours to wait to see the doctor due to the activity of the department, the doctor was very helpful and carried out the treatment swiftly! We were very pleased with the care we received!

The only issue I would raise would be the smell of urine from the toilets, it could be smelt throughout the waiting room! We were in the department over 3hours, and domestic staff did attend to the toilet to change toilet roll but no cleaning was carried out despite the strong smell

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your recent experience while attending the Accident and Emergency Department at Monklands Hospital. Your kind words are very much appreciated and I am very pleased to hear that nursing staff took time to answer your questions and put your mum at ease at what must have been a very worrying time for you both.

I sincerely apologise however that there was an unpleasant odour in the waiting room and would take this opportunity to assure you that I will investigate this matter further and ensure that the proper cleaning protocols are being adhered to.

I hope your mum is making a quick recovery and wish you both well in the future.
