"Pleasant staff but meals inedible"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital (Paisley)

(as the patient),

Nursing staff were efficient, friendly and pleasant both in the medical assessment unit and on the ward. Some training doctors were not so efficient nor pleasant and made and caused various problems.

MEALS on the other hand were inedible, looked terrible and would cause me problems with digestion. Hospital should be considering another tender for the meals. When you are unwell, proper food is vital in your recovery. There should be dietary choices for patients with certain complaints.

Dear leg of mutton

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your feedback. Can I please take this opportunity to express my sincere apologies regarding your experience of the hospital patient meal service whilst receiving care within Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley. From the information that you have provided it is unclear what ward you received your care in & the dates of your stay, as this information would help identify menu selection & staff involved in the regeneration process. Can I please confirm that Facilities Management are responsible for the provision of patient catering arrangements & staff do strive to provide wholesome & quality meal choices. In terms of your personal experience it would be helpful if the hospital catering manager could meet or speak to you, to understand where, in your opinion, the patient meal service fell short of meeting your expectations. In supporting this proposed communication, catering management can then undertake further review of the service in a positive effort to address challenges and generally improve levels of satisfaction.

Can I please thank you for taking the time to raise this issue. Should you be amenable to having some form of dialogue with the hospital catering manager, this would be welcome & very much appreciated"

Kind Regards

Thank you for acknowledging my feedback. At least I know it is worthwhile leaving feedback.

My husband was re-admitted over the last week. He has found an improvement in the meals since his last stay and was able to eat them this time.

Nursing staff again were efficient and we have no worries there. Junior doctors didn't cause any problems this time. As Nursing staff had also previously been complaining about them, they have probably sorted things out with them. At least no case records were going amiss or recordings marked in the wrong box this time. I suppose they have to learn one way or another! It's just that some of them are too big for their boots and won't listen to the nursing staff who have many more years experience behind them.
