I have inflammatory arthritis, I was put on steroids and methotrexate after rh factor was found in my blood back in January 2014. No other blood or toxicity tests were carried out no attempt to look deeper to ascertain a root cause or give me a diagnosis with a "name". I have been under the consultants care for 5 months and now bumped to another consultant, for asking too many questions it seems! I have had no progress report or been given any guidance from my original consultant. A patient should be able to ask reasonable questions about their condition. The consultant has not even given me the exact 'name' of my condition, he gets very angry when one asked question like "what other medications or treatments are available for my condition", he is not helpful and simply throws names of medications at me with no further useful advise. He is not supportive and just gives out medication with terrible side effects and sends me on my way! Does not explain the progress, what other options there are, my blood results so far, and is generally unhelpful. The only aspect he is interested in is my pain scale of 1-10 on that particular day! When one requests information from a consultant one should not be called "aggressive". A patient tends to be in pain and also be vulnerable when visiting a consultant. Frustrated and dissapointed with Kingston Rhuematolgy department.
"Not helpful at all!"
