I visited the Sports Medicine department last Tuesday 6th May for an keyhole arthroscopy procedure under local anaesthetic. I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of my visit, the consultant was wonderful, the nurses, health care assistant and reception staff were all brilliant, the department was spotlessly clean and everything ran like clockwork. I arrived at 9.15am and had left the department by 12.15pm. I have waited longer for outpatient clinic appointments at other hospitals!!! The care provided by this department was faultless, they were caring and kind when I was a little tearful post op and the following morning when I had a few concerns about my wound upon ringing the department I was immediately passed to my consultant who instantly put my mind at rest with further advice and an offer for me to return to the department if I felt I needed to. A few days later I received a letter at home from the consultant detailing the advice he had given me and extending an offer for me to return to the department any morning if I felt it was necessary. All above and beyond any experience I have ever received from any other department in any other hospital and I unfortunately have to visit a few!! Dealing with this orthopaedic department has been brilliant from outpatient clinic stage to post op stage and think too often people are quick to flag up problems with their treatment at hospitals so thought I would take the opportunity to deliver praise where deserved. If I could I would have nominated each and everyone of the department for the outstanding employee award!
"Wonderful treatment!"
