"The Wonderful treatment that saved my life"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

After being diagnosed with Kidney Cancer and Pulmonary Embolism. I was treated with speed and the utmost care, although I am in my late sixties. My condition was so critical that, (although the operation was very high risk), that the Kidney Surgeon took total responsibility to go ahead against others major concerns. The operation was very successful and the after care excellent. This still would have been my families opinion if it had not been successful. After care was second to none, and although I live in Cromer, communication between the N&N and my GP were spot on. Due to my condition at the time of the operation, Key Hole was used to remove my right Kidney. Unfortunately some cancer cells were growing beyond my Kidney that was removed and was seen on the scans that followed. I was feeling very well by now but the cancer was growing and it was also close to my liver. I was, after discussions with my original Surgeon, operated on again by a Liver Surgeon this time. It was possible the Cancer had spreed to my liver and part of this my have to be removed. Again, a successful operation and I was able to go home after a short time. I have now been given the all clear for the moment and I am back to living a full and happy life again. The surgeons, nursing staff and everyone else involved with my recovery at the N&N, are worth more than any money or praise that I can ever give. The names I have excluded here, but passed on the hospital heads. My Husband and my mother 93years old have also had equally excellent service. Finally, in an environment were all we ever hear are bad comments about the NHS, the Norfolk & Norwich and all its staff deserve a very special THANK YOU ALL.

We are pleased to hear your treatment has gone well and that you are recovering well after two operations. We will pass on your message to the team.
