What I liked
The dedication and professionalism of the ambulance team who brought me in, and the equally impressive dedication and compassion of the A&E staff. Thank you.
What could be improved
I saw very little evidence of leadership, many examples of duplication and inefficiency.
This was not expected but so abvious from the first minute on the ward.
I gave my details to at least four different people within 24 hours.
Investment/ equipment (eg: electronic beds) is very impressive but basic disciplines sadly lacking.
Cleaning gel dispensers on the ward were empty and remained so the whole time I was there.
Anything else?
Moral among the staff on the ward (25) seemed to be low. Not unexpected when they have to pay to park their car to attend work?
Most did their best, some I suspect chose the wrong career, but communication between staff seemed inadequate and leadership definitely absent.
Meals were unacceptable by any standard for a hospital. Breakfast one morning included one round of white bread (not toast!) with a plastic sachet of margarine and jam.
"The dedication and professionalism ..."
